Slow Fashion Movement is a global NGO transforming the fashion industry to become sustainable and fair, by increasing consumer awareness and urgency about the negative impact of fast fashion.

Through educational content creation, events, research, collaborations and campaigns, we encourage consumers to:

Make informed clothing decisions in the benefit of environmental and social sustainability.

Our community is at the heart of the movement and is the cornerstone of our vision. Collectively, we connect people so they can support, empower and educate each other to change the fashion industry.

Education is a key to our vision

By educating people on the way their clothes are being made and at what cost the clothing industry currently operates we can grow our community and collective impact. To ensure this we will campaign for and facilitate people’s education regarding the issues faced by the industry.

We believe most people are willing to learn

We see social change as a highly personal path, where all of us have space to learn, and inspireeach other on the way.

We avoid individual shaming

The burdens of the current crisis in the fashion industry are not caused by any one person and the responsibility of correcting it should not lie on any individual’s shoulders. We are aware of the differences in opportunities we receive and acknowledge that it is a privilege to be able to make changes in one’s personal life.

We walk the walk

We act according to the structural changes we want to see in the fashion ecosystem and embody those changes.

We platform diverse voices

We recognise the value that diversity brings to realise equitable change and aim to include perspectives that are traditionally not included in changemaker movements.

We practice transparency

We operate from a place of integrity and share insights backed by knowledge, due credit and aligned intentions

We believe in the power of education

We want to nurture the next generation of change-makers. Information and opportunities should be accessible to all if we are to build a fairer society. We aim to educate our community on the consequences, possibilities and best practices of the fashion industry. We also upskill our community to pass this knowledge on.

We learn from the movements that share our vision

We actively build on the work already done by movements, NGOs and groups that share our vision for structural change. We collaborate to both grow our communities and amplify our impact on the fashion ecosystem.

We support initiatives that offer alternatives

We want to start building the sustainable and ethical economies we like to live in. After minimising our consumption, we choose to work with organisations that offer sustainable, fair and regenerative alternatives.

We believe in collective action as a tool for systemic change

We see individual action as an effective tool to influence change, if done as collective. We want to mobilise a critical mass to change the fashion ecosystem.

We work towards social tipping points

We want to cultivate a greater sensibility of scrutinising fashion whilst also celebrating it consciously. This means creating a cultural shift away from fast fashion and establishing slow fashion as the new norm.
